Shira and Morris just clicked when they met on JDate<\/a>! Morris was brought up in a traditional orthodox home, and Shira was raised in a traditionally conservative home with Israeli influences and heritage. Sparks flew right away and when things got more serious between the two, Shira decided to explore her Jewish roots in Los Angeles, taking classes and seeing if a more orthodox lifestyle was something she could embrace. Shira decided to go to Israel where she learned more about orthodox Judaism and truly embraced and felt connected to it. While they were apart, Morris and Shira’s romance blossomed as he sent her flowers every week and they spoke at least once a day. <\/p>\n

Morris came to visit Shira in Israel and proposed to her at the Kotel (the Wailing Wall) after Shabbat service. The newly-engaged couple privately celebrated the emotional moment and when an Israeli soldier noticed tears streaming down Shira’s face, he came over to make sure that everything was okay! The huge crowd that had formed for Shabbat had cleared out and they had the Wall to themselves and it was a truly romantic experience. Shira stayed in Israel for another two months before deciding to return to Los Angeles to plan the wedding. While planning, she decided to emphasize the importance of family at her wedding, so her sister was her only bridesmaid and her adorable nieces served as the perfect flower girls (who apparently stole the show!). The June 2009 wedding was a traditional orthodox Jewish wedding with a mix of Sephardic (Morris’s background) and Ashkenazic (Shira’s background) customs, complete with a kabbalat pa’anim, bedeken, circling the groom 7 times, and yichud. <\/p>\n
