Waaaaay back. The ketubah is considered to be an important part of a traditional Jewish marriage, and confirms the rights and responsibilities of the groom as they apply to the bride and their marriage.

Typically, today’s engaged couples select a ketubah based on its text which depends on their Jewish affiliation and movement. A rabbi can help with this process or the couple can choose the ketubah themselves. Essentially, the words matter most. However, many modern couples select a ketubah that matches their lifestyle choices and their taste in art.

Art? Yes. Ketubot contain beautiful words so why should they not be surrounded by whimsical themes, bold art, or traditional motifs? There is no wrong or right art form to the ketubah. It should match the individual couple’s style or home decor. A beautiful, complementary frame really completes the look and serves as a reminder not only of the couple’s commitments to each other, but of their amazing wedding day as well.

Today, we tip our hats to the modern Jewish couple and the many beautiful modern styles of ketubot they can purchase.

From theketubah.com:

From New World Ketubah by Rachel Deitsch:

From Ketubah Graphia:

From Ketubah.com:

From Ketubah Studio by MP Artworks:

From Modern Ketubah:

<g:plusone size='medium' href='https%3A%2F%2Farchive.bryanfriedman.me%2Fyentas%2Fjewish-traditions%2Fketubah-art-for-the-modern-bride'></g:plusone>

The ketubah dates back.
