Inspiration Board: Pink and Orange

Bright! Elegant! Playful! The essence of Spring! Those were the keywords behind Yenta Alison’s Memorial Weekend wedding that tied in pink and orange details. The most colorful and natural way to capture the pink and orange motif was through all the variations of floral arrangements by Lei-Ann Salter of Happy Flowers Inc. in Agoura Hills, California. Pink and orange ranunculas, roses, dahlias, calla lilies and splashes of green via fuzzy little buds called kermits all contributed to a successful theme. These flower varieties were highlighted in the chuppah, bouquets, cake (which was deliciously baked by Skiff’s in Simi Valley, California) and centerpieces. The chuppah treatment also transformed into floral arrangements on our sweetheart table at the reception. This is a great way to get more bang for your buck and recycle your gorgeous ceremony flowers! Extra flower petals were sprinkled on the cake table and the legacy table where we featured wedding photos of our parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents! The bright pink bridesmaid dresses by Jasmine B2 purchased at Bridal Elegance in Torrance, California allowed the color to splash through, while still providing a playfully elegant look thanks to the strapless detail on top and tea-length skirt. Even the table favors adopted the pink and orange theme. We provided guests with a yummy treat — caramel apples! — and wrapped them with an orange ribbon and a label printed in the wedding colors that read “And they lived apple-y ever after.” These seemed to be a big hit with the guests and also look great against neutral cream-colored linens. Chairs were also wrapped in cream covers, but a bright pink sash tied in a knot created pop-outs of pizazz throughout the room. Pink and orange are great main colors you can incorporate into your palette. You can always add cream, green, and turquoise hues to vary the tones.

Real Weddings | Atlanta, GA

A series of almost-connections would have brought Leandro and Bela together sooner, but life took its usual course and crossed their paths at the right time. Leandro came to Atlanta in 2005 to start grad school at Georgia Tech and began attending Shearith Israel Synagogue every Shabbat, where he befriended Bela’s parents. Bela’s mom told her she should think about dating this cute boy at shul, but Bela said she didn’t like beards. Mutual friends invited Leandro and Bela to various events, bringing them together to join the same volleyball team and take Argentine Tango dance class together. Still, though, Leandro didn’t ask Bela out.

After spending time together nearly every day for months, Bela and Leandro were responsible for planning a social event for the 20s/30s club at the synagogue. Bela suggested a scavenger hunt around the Highlands, and somehow, every time they got together to write the clues for the hunt, they ended up chatting about everything else. When the clues for the scavenger hunt were finally complete, Leandro finally, finally, finally got the guts to officially invite Bela out. From then on — boom! — it was history. They continued taking Tango lessons, playing sports, and going to shul together, and were married this past September at the beautiful Georgia Aquarium!
