Lior and Wendy met on the job and were flirty friends for about a year until they finally shared their first kiss at a Rosh Hashanah party. Nothing says romance like apples and honey, right? After about a year of dating, Lior and Wendy shared a deep conversation one night over a romantic dinner, during which they shared their desire to marry each other and start a family. However, Lior was Jewish and Wendy was not, and the idea of raising children with one religion was important to both of them. So after much research and falafel, Wendy made the decision to change her religion from Catholicism to Judaism. The process was long and arduous, but Wendy took to her new religion like a gefilte fish to water. Shortly after the conversion process was finalized, Lior popped the question to Wendy, in front of her family, on Christmas morning, nonetheless!
Though she converted Orthodox, Wendy and Lior have embraced a Reform Judaism lifestlye, and their wedding was everything they wanted it to be. On May 25, 2008, a Rabbi and a Cantor performed a beautiful ceremony under a chuppah that emphasized Wendy and Lior’s relationship in the most sentimental way. Every moment of the ceremony was meaningful and romantic, while keeping many of the traditional Jewish elements. There were also a lot of modern elements that definitely spiced things up — like a male bridesmaid and contemporary music for the ceremony. Today Wendy and Lior are raising their little 1-year-old boychik, Ben.
We love Wendy’s gorgeous Monique dresses (yes, we wish we were on a first name basis with Madame L.) and the stunning venue, which, unfortunately, is no longer available for events. We had to tell you so you wouldn’t get your hopes up because that place was niiiiiiiice.
