Emily first met Binyamin when she moved to Israel for graduate school. She had just moved into a new apartment and found her washing machine didn’t work — her landlords sent over their son, Binyamin, to have a look. The two became friends and soon started dating.

Four years later, on their last night in Jerusalem, they were headed for a night out together when Emily realized her grandmother’s engagement ring, which she’d inherited years earlier, was missing. It turns out Binyamin was about to propose! He had chosen a diamond for Emily but hadn’t yet had it set, so he used the heirloom as a stand-in. “I tearfully said yes,” Emily remembers.

On the wedding day, Emily carried a bouquet of yellow parrot tulips (her favorite flowers), orange gerbera daisies, mango calla lilies, and peach-hued English tea roses. The bouquet was wrapped in fabric from the sleeve of her mother’s wedding gown and secured with a monogram brooch that had belonged to her maternal grandmother. It was given to her at her own wedding in 1937 with her new initials.

The couple stood beneath a chuppah adorned with curly willow and moss and covered with an ivory tablecloth the bride’s parents had received as a gift at their own wedding.

Kristen and Boaz enjoyed a perfect sunset wedding at a gorgeous mansion built in the early 1900s. The house itself was just stunning so there wasn’t much need for decorations. Orange fan programs were left at each chair for the guests. Boaz is Jewish so the couple had a unique ceremony blending some of the Jewish traditions with some of their own personal traditions. The most important element of their ceremony was the fabulous chuppah that Kirsten’s dad constructed. The chuppah was draped with a new tablecloth that the married couple has since used for Thanksgiving dinner, creating a new tradition together. Kristen’s father spent many hours on the project and he got to enjoy quality time with his future son-in-law who helped build it, too. This was such an important part of their ceremony that the rabbi discussed it in his speech, mentioning how symbolic it was that Kristen’s dad helped build the chuppah with his own two hands and how the chuppah represents the bride and groom’s first home together as a married couple.

At the reception, Boaz and Kristen put on quite a show for their guests!! The couple had been taking ballroom dance lessons because Kristen loves Dancing With the Stars and they both enjoyed their classes! They decided to showcase a choreographed dance for their grand entrance and they wanted something fun and upbeat so they boogied to “Jump (for Your Love)” by The Pointer Sisters. They learned the hustle, and the dance moves included Boaz lifting Kristen up and spinning her around. Boaz even did leaps in the air during the chorus.

Kristen and Boaz had a perfect wedding day filled with a traditional and meaningful ceremony followed by a festive and fun reception! Sounds like a great wedding to us!

Mazel tov, Kristen and Boaz!

Chelsea Clinton + Marc Mezvinsky

It’s been a little over a week since the biggest wedding of the summer happened for Chelsea Clinton and Marc Mezvinsky. The Rhinebeck, N.Y. affair appears to have been a beautiful and private wedding that allowed the bride and groom to shine on their special day.

It’s refreshing to see that the day was about them and not her father’s fame or inner circle. However, it was no tiny occasion either. About 400 people came to see Chelsea and Marc get married in a picture-perfect interfaith ceremony. Marc is Jewish so the wedding included some of our favorite traditions as detailed in the photos.

Chelsea, who is now 30, wore a gown by Vera Wang who also happens to be a friend of the family. The strapless ivory silk gown had intricate beading at the waist. Millie Martini Bratten, editor-in-chief of Brides magazine said, “She looked very much a modern princess in 2010 … simple and chic and modern.”

What a stunning and breath-taking moment! Chelsea’s long, flowing veil and picture-perfect Vera Wang gown give her the ultimate bridal look. She has since grown up to become a strong and beautiful woman, and linked to the arm of her father on her wedding day reminds us of her special relationship and childhood in the White House.

Chelsea is one happy bride! We love Mark and Chelsea’s simple and beautiful ketubah, neatly framed and on display at the ceremony. While wrapped in his tallit, he looks at his bride adoringly and girls across America melt! We can’t help but notice how tightly and excitedly they hold hands. Random piece of Yentas advice #273: Make like “Titanic” and never let go. No, really! Try at all times to be near your partner; hold hands; touch shoulders. This is the most special day you two will experience together and little squeezes and hand holds throughout the day literally bring you closer.

Bliss! And wow! Here’s our chance to check out that amazing detail on that Vera Wang number. The rouched bodice with the beaded waistline fits Chelsea like a glove. She obviously had the fortune of having “people” but for those of us who are not daughters of United States presidents, we don’t get to have “people” so it’s important to understand what works with your body and your style. A narrow waistline like Chelsea’s is perfect for the beaded band. The strapless dress complements her gorgeous neckline and shoulders. The A-line frame of the skirt hits all the right points, complementing her figure in ever way. High 5, Mrs. Mezvinksy.

Hey, we know those people! They look great, too! Taking time for family photos is a must. Make sure you go over your timeline with your photographer so that you make sure you get the combination you want in the kind of light that the photographer wants. Many times, we see wedding days run late and when the newlyweds get their images back, they’re disappointed that they missed a few. If you’re having a cocktail hour, make sure that your family members who will be photographed are aware of where they need to be for pictures. Looks like mother and father of the bride got the memo!

Hillary’s take on the mother of the bride dress is a standout! Her dark-to-light fuchsia gown is perfectly seasonal for her daughter’s summer, beach town wedding. Hillary’s hairstyle is sleek and formal while still looking like herself. Sometimes, people take special occasions like weddings to change their whole look, but we believe that those kinds of changes should be reserved for Halloween. Weddings and other formal affairs are times to look like the best version of yourself, not change your look completely. It looks like everyone was styled just right!

This is the story that starts with a blind date and a missing tooth, and ends with a traditional and love-filled wedding. Interested? Read on!

Dana and Mark planned to meet at Rudy’s, one of NYC’s divy-est bars, since Mark was astonished to learn that Dana had never been. Plus, he was missing a tooth at the time and thought he’d fit right in so maybe Dana wouldn’t notice! Yes, you read right: missing. a tooth. And Dana, coincidentally, is the daughter of a dentist. If you can believe it, the missing tooth went un-mentioned for three dates until, during a bout of flirty banter, Dana unleashed with “Shut-up you toothless Canadian!” And that was it. She stole his heart on the spot. No joke. In fact, that’s the exact place Mark brought her back to when he proposed a year and a half later, this time with a tooth… and a ring.

Dana and Mark were honored that their close friend in Rabbinical school facilitated the religious ceremony as the Mesaderet Kiddushin. Together they crafted a traditional egalitarian ceremony, complete with Gordon Tucker ketubah text, Dana’s participation in the exchanging of the vows, and a shared circling of each other: both went around three times and walked the seventh circle together. The wedding was infused with as many personal touches as possible: they were wrapped in the tallitot of their grandfathers, drank from the same Kiddush cup as Mark’s parents did at their wedding, and used a challah cover hand-painted by a good friend.

After the wedding, Dana wanted to continue to help other engaged couples, so she launched Deposit a Gift, a cash gift registry service, offering brides and grooms an alternative to traditional gift registries. We are happy to say that both her wedding day and new business are the epitome of success.

Mazel tov, Dana and Mark!

Kristy and Brian’s wedding was filled with tradition, ritual, and lots of love! Their ceremony and reception location, Temple Shalom of Chicago, held great meaning for them because they met there on a Friday night service! Their love may be steamy, but so was the weather outside the night of their wedding. Fortunately the festivities were all inside because it was 95 degrees out that day! Everything flowed just perfectly with their photos taking place prior to their ketubah signing and noon ceremony. An delicious brunch reception followed, but that doesn’t mean that Kristy and Brian didn’t par-tay with their guests. Don’t be fooled: their dance floor was just as packed (if not more so) as an evening reception!

Kristy and Brian chose to incorporate the tradition of the bride circling the groom seven times, but adapted it for themselves by circling each other three times each and then once together. They may or may not have lost count circling each other seven times. Eh, we chalk it up to bonus circles. Either way, it was a special moment, and made for a great photo! Love their expressions in that shot, but also in all of the photos in this Real Wedding. Every image shows a couple that’s so in love and excited to be starting the rest of their lives. Together.
