{Real Jewish Weddings} North Garden, VA

Laura and Matt’s winery wedding was inspired by the dark, rich tones of fall and the desire for a casual, elegant atmosphere. The couple wanted to embrace the season and complement the natural beauty of their venue.

An image of aubergine purple linens and bright, burnt red flowers, reminiscent of fall leaves, perfectly reflected Laura and Matt’s ideal aesthetic. They chose their winery venue because it was a world away from hotels and country clubs, both of which feature prominently in Laura’s everyday existence as the head of a conference department.

Both Laura and Matt cherished all of the details of their special day, from the invitation suite that set the tone for the event to the heart-shaped wine stoppers perfect for their vineyard wedding. They chose wrought iron trees covered with James Story orchids accented with lots of glowing candle light to accent their space. Perhaps the most unique element was inspired by Matt’s recently-obtained pilot’s license. Instead of “Mr. and Mrs.” signs, they created “Pilot” and “Co-Pilot” signs for the backs of their chairs!

Laura and Matt advise to those planning a wedding would be to make decisions, no matter how difficult, then make peace with them. Ultimately, the wedding is about the experience, and everything else will be okay.

{Real Jewish Weddings} Yorba Linda, CA

The Proposal: Right before a trip to Mexico in December 2010, Ed planned a day under the guise of a special time for Cimin to get ready for their trip. He set up clues and cards throughout the city for a scavenger hunt, including many places they loved together. Cimin didn’t think it was proposal at all, in fact when people asked she said no (as Ed had told her to lower her expectations earlier in the week). When she arrived home to the house they had bought together a few months before, Ed had made duck (the meal they fell in love over) and as their song by John Legend came on, he dropped to one knee. After their romantic proposal, Ed took Cimin to the local wine bar where all of their friends surprised her to help celebrate.

The planning: Ed & Cimin had a difficult time planning their wedding as they tried to appease everyone and stay on a budget. After about a year, during a meeting with their Rabbi, he suggested putting all options (date, place, etc.) in a hat and they “picked” their wedding.

Cimin’s favorite detail of the day was during pictures of just the two of them. The sun was setting, Joel (the photographer) wasn’t intrusive so they were able to feel natural and how they usually are: laughing, playful, and enjoying their first 15 minutes together as husband & wife.

Florida Engagement Session At The Fair

Love this colorful and cheerful shoot! Almost every town or city has a fairgrounds complex — go go go! How fun for engagement photos!

Wearing high wasted red pants and a blue crop top, Heather was handing out wristbands for a local bar that night. This was not Heather’s forte, just a one time gig, but somehow it just happened to work out in her favor. Little did she know, it would lead to meeting the man she would eventually call her mister.

Dave was working his night shift for the Fort Lauderdale Police Department. It was a slow night, so he decided to park his car for a little while downtown. He noticed a girl and called over to her saying “Hey, whatchya got there?” Smooth Dave. They started talking and have been inseparable ever since!

Heather went home that night and told her whole family that she was getting married and that she definitely knew Dave was the one, even though she knew nothing about him…except his first name. What a fairytale!

Dave proposed to Heather after she came home from a long, hard day at work. The apartment was filled with white candles, white lanterns and white “will you marry me?” signs. He was so nervous, that he even misspelled YOU. He got down on one knee and Heather of course said yes! After the romantic proposal, Dave swept her away to a surprise dinner at her favorite restaurant with all of their closest friends and relatives. How thoughtful!

Dave is the ultimate comic book collector, so we knew we needed to incorporate superheros into our engagement session! He has thousands of comics and is always on the hunt for more! What better place to capture color than the South Florida Fair?

This comic book loving, ice-coffee drinking, movie watching couple was incredible to photograph. They each have different personalities and interests (did we mention that Heather is obsessed with tissue paper for crafts?) that mesh so well with each other to make one perfect couple.

{Real Jewish Weddings} Sedona, AZ

Mara and Cole met when they were 14 years old. From the start they knew that they were soul mates. After high school they both went to college at the University of Arizona and continued to always be each others’ biggest supporters. After graduating from college, Cole proposed on the beach in San Diego. They both said they had been dreaming about getting married since their first kiss as young teens. Family, friends, and even wedding vendors all noticed that the bond and passion this young couple have is truly remarkable. Mara’s father said in his speech that they have taught others how love should be.

The beautiful Sedona backdrop, the warm and cheery flowers, and the simple, stylish details make this wedding a real gem, showcasing true love from everyone involved!

{Real Jewish Weddings} Brooklyn, NY

Evan and Rachel had an amazing wedding in Brooklyn at the Green Building. Evan and Rachel, along with their families, put so much work into crafting their DIY wedding, and it really showed as it was truly a labor of love. And it really was a family affair! Rachel’s sister created a chalkboard seating chart. Evan and his groomsmen assembled the chuppah together the morning of the wedding. Evan’s mother made granola for guests to take home after the wedding. And Evan and Rachel made their save the dates, thank you cards, and guest book (with slots for advice from guests) by hand! Personal touches definitely styled this wedding and the delicate and thoughtful planning shined through!
