Here Comes The Foodie

Foodies unite! Back in the day, weddings were always held in cheesy banquet halls with very predictable catering options. And let’s not forget that rubber chicken has always made its way into every wedding meal joke, but that doesn’t mean that the joke has to become truth. Weddings are now vehicles to showcase fine dining and out-of-the-box appetizers and entrees. Caterers are stepping up the wedding food game, and creating food that is not only tasty, but also aesthetically cutting edge.

This weekend was Husband Yenta’s 30th birthday and we had a food-a-thon of celebrity chef meals. Since Food Network is constantly airing in our house, I’ve become interested in and fascinated by food trends and creative ways that chefs take simple, every day dishes and give them a unique spin.

So, I decided to revisit some Real Weddings that have been showcased on The Wedding Yentas and feature some beautiful food that may inspire you or your wedding caterers. The days of rubber chicken are over! When it comes to a Jewish wedding, food comes first!

A Second Look: Wedding Video!

Danielle and Patrick‘s wedding photos by Amy Karp Photography were pretty spectacular, weren’t they? Their adorableness was jumping out of the computer screen!

So, let’s revisit, but this time we can go back in time with their highlights reel by Lynn Films! The reel hits all the sweet spots and their reception dancing looked so fun! Put A Ring On It

Chelo Keys, an east coast wedding and lifestyle photographer, is a big believer in photographing the moments that make weddings special, but she loves to take spare time to give the weddings rings their time in the spotlight and make a little magic.

Many times, Chelo will look for an interesting surface, something that will make the viewer wonder “What is that?!” She likes to try to use an object or area from the wedding, like cool DJ lights or sparkly table decorations. If she’s in a hurry and she has to improvise, sometimes the most ordinary objects set the best scene for the rings. Chelo has used everything from the wet reflective surface of a ping pong table to an aqua-globe (that round, shiny thing that waters your plants!). When it comes to processing the images, Chelo lets the image speak to her and lets the art — the color or the texture — take the lead.

Work with your photographer to get the must-have shots. You must trust your photographer, too, and know that he or she will capture the important events of your wedding day, but sometimes specialty shots get overlooked if you have something specific in mind. Communicate those unique moments or objects you’d like to have photographed and you’ll be able have those images to last a lifetime. Just like some brides love to have a photo of their dress hanging on the hanger to preserve their splendor, Chelo likes to take pictures of her couples’ bling! Here are some of her favorites that may also inspire you to have the same artistic photos!

Register to Make Your House a Home

The Wedding Yentas always loves working with Deposit a Gift to discuss all things gifty! When it comes to your wedding, you’ll be showered in presents and Deposit a Gift allows you to make receiving these presents convenient and helpful for you. If you’re not in need of a new toaster or a new set of tumblers, think outside the box and with the help of Deposit a Gift, you and your love will love unwrapping what really matters to you. Read on for a home registry brainstorm by Dana, the Chief Gifting Officer and Founder of Deposit a Gift.

There are so many ways to make a nontraditional wedding registry work for you, and one of the best is a Home Registry! Users often ask me how they can make the most of their registry to start their lives as new homeowners off right. Here are some of the best ways to do it!

Register for Big-Ticket Items
Maybe you don’t need a blender or linens to complete your home, but you do need some bigger items that guests can’t purchase individually. Items like refrigerators and furniture, or your planned Boynton beach house painters job and construction work. Let guests contribute to these items together so that you can get what you really need.

Take Care of the Landscaping

Maybe you and your fiancé are already happy with your home and furnishings but the yard could use a little work. Ask guests to contribute towards a garden, new planters, or a lawn service to make your house as beautiful outside as it is inside. You can even plant a tree for the future!

Contribute Toward a Home Down Payment

You can’t register for furnishings and landscaping if you haven’t got the home yet! If you’re ready to begin your life in your own home, but need a little help getting started, ask guests to contribute towards your first down payment, just like this couple did. They’ll be so happy to help you on such a big step in your life.

It’s easy to make the most of your registry by asking guests to help your turn your house into a home. Guests want to celebrate this next big step in your life, and what better way to do so! Don’t forget to invite them over for a housewarming party to see what they helped bring to life — there’s nothing more gratifying than seeing you happy and settled in your new home.

Your Wedding Goes to the Dogs

You’ve got your entourage with you on your wedding day: Maid of Honor? Check. Best Man? Check. Man’s Best Friend? Woof! Yes, if you have a dog (or any special critter you love), The Wedding Yentas gives you the stamp of approval to include your furry love in your big day.

But what does your cuddle bug with the tail wear to such an occasion?
